In my life, occupations & roles, I embrace symbolism, signs and synchronicities.  So, I resumed roller skating in the past few months.  The challenges that I faced were ill-fitting skates and balance issues which adversely affected my previous skillset for skating.  Yikes, what a mess! 

I taught myself how to skate at eleven years old through observation, imitation and practice.  The 60's offered many opportunities, skating lessons were not one of them.  Haha! Needless to say, the evolution of time now affords me the opportunity to take lessons.  So, off I went to @OCPrays (Olympia) at the local Park District Fieldhouse. For weeks, she encouraged others and me to embark on a safe Skate Journey to House and Afrobeat music!  

Yesterday, I laced up my new Combat Boot Skates with fiberglass frames and Riva
Wheels, took several deep breaths and shapeshifted into my younger courageous self and lifted my right foot over my left!  I crossed over and sustained my balance, as I coursed around the implied oval on the fieldhouse floor for several rotations.

The Shamanic-Energetic implication of Crossing Over from right (intellectual processing/doing/analytical/male/yang) to left (emotional processing/feeling/intuition/female/yin) indicates the balance between the two sides. Stretching the symbolism further suggests the death of my fear, thereby embracing a new experience.  The Crossover in Balboa Dance allows the two dancers to oppose each other within the frame of the dance.  This styling is done in a smooth fashion and can promote a playful exchange between the couple.  The consideration of a playful energetic exchange tamped down my serious consternation and guarded posturing as I approached the turn.

Whatever the intention, I did it.  Cannot wait until next week!!!

So, I had an intuitive nudge to cover this song, "Just You, Just Me," three times in my Hoop Dance event.  In Shamanism, the third repetition Empowers the Insight of a spoken Intention. I felt a need to address my 4th Chakra, Heart Chakra.  It is in the Center of the seven Chakras---3 above and 3 below.  This is the area where the Physical and the Spiritual meet. Green is the color of this Chakra.

I knew that I was being guided to address past hurts, griefwork and forgiveness.  I appropriately donned various green garments with hats (mine, Larry Davis & the late Jean Woodson, Milliners--left to right); green Hoop (Canyon Hoops; re-taped by me); jazz shoes/boots; Amazon & Hands 2 Hearts tops and green Earlusions (Akosua Bandele, Artisan).  I selected the Path in the Park for my early morning Sojourn.  It proved to be a safe and quiet choice for this Spiritual Exploration.  

There is a clear indication that it is time (way past time) to let go of old hurts and disappointments.  Books on Enlightenment, Mindfulness and Awareness address the Truths of Letting Go of Negativity and Receiving Affirming Experiences.

I chose three different artists, Katharine Whalen, Diana Krall and Nat King Cole.  Each musician put their own Musicality and Spin on it.  Ms. Whalen had a Swing rhythm; Ms. Krall had an upbeat tempo and Mr. Cole Swings it, as well, but with a different Vibe.  None-the-less, I Felt the Vibes and Intuitively Created the Groove and Dance Stylings to Fuse with them.  All three made me very HaAapPy!!! 

My distinct and unique Voice in Hoop-Dance Stylings led me to quick polyrhythms, syncopation, up tempo beats and vocals.  I chose to confer, as a mime, dancer and vocalist, with the lyricist and singer of my song selections.  Sometimes, I bantered, berated or flirted with the unseen person(s).  I allowed the words and music to guide me in my improvisational choreography.  Even in this, I surprised myself.

Certainly, this Music/Hoop/Dance Synergy and Communication will evolve and reveal the teachings of the shared Energy, Intention and Shamanic Gifting.

HOLISTIC HOOP is a by-product of my Intuition...

At the onset of my business, I had to renew my Hooping skills.  Repetitions, while watching television, practicing music and as a meditation were done on a daily basis until I achieved a 20-minute Hoop Flow without dropping the Hoop! 

Shortly after, I was asked to teach my version of Weighted Hooping at a school for the adult staff. For many years, I taught in different dance studios, LA Fitness, Lakefront & school yards.  I explored various music and dance genres to Energetically Collaborate with the Hoop's rotation.  The swing rhythm of Swing dance, Lindy, Balboa and slow grooves of Blues dancing augmented my choreography in the Hoop's movement.  I was inspired to walk, hop, skip, jog and tap dance.  I Hoop with props & on unusual surfaces e.g., performance fans, dance flags, drumsticks, Bosu Ball, ladders, piano bench and bed-Hooping.

During the shelter-in-place phase of Covid-19, I created Hoop-Dance videos with miming and singing to various songs.  I staged the vids in my living room with amplified music, costuming & lighting.  I enjoyed myself immensely!

On another side of town, Crystal found my vids and me.  Per her report, she was exhilarated and watched my social media platforms.  In addition, Crystal honed her Hooping skills while observing my Hoop/Dance Stylings.  [Later, I discovered that we graduated from the same all girls Catholic High School--Aquinas Dominican].

Crystal found her way to one of my Pop-Up Hooping classes.  Her engagement and excitement were palpable.  Her presence Jazzed up the class!

Moving forward, Crystal hired me for her 61st Golden Birthday this past weekend! I entertained & Hooped to a room filled with other Hoopers and the 40+ Double Dutch Club.  Crystal, even, jumped 3 times while Hooping and Double Dutch Jumping!!!  Turn Up, Crystal!!!

I was so amazed & bathed in the Spirit of camaraderie, kindness, community, joy and cooperation!!!  One Hooper exclaimed, "You're the Bomb!  This is better than the Pole!!!"

I am an evolving integration of a Medicine Woman, Healing Touch Certified Practitioner, Psychic/Intuitive/Medium, Pediatric Occupational Therapist, Spiritual Eclectic Performer, Hat-Maker, Vocalist and Dancer--for now! And I realize the importance of music, movement, sensory processing, willingness, awareness, attunement, connection and expectation all lead to my Path of Empowerment!

This week, I experienced a huge and unexpected energetic shift from a collision of personalities, intention and communication styles.  I was thrown by the experience, esp. since it involved the innocence of my hula hoop!!!

I grieved the normalcy of my expectation for compassion and graceful ease in my life...I prolonged my anger and rage at the source of my dis-ease.  [Hmn...my pattern of processing?!?]  I sought out help from women and men whom I hold in my heart and LISTENED.

Later, that morning (not mourning) with its symbolism of awakening, I danced for two hours at a Zumbathon for cancer Survivors!!!  In those moments of endorphin and encephalin release, I settled into the new energy of excitement and joy.  In my head and heart, I heard:

I could have danced all night.  I could have danced all night.  And still have begged for more.  I could have spread my wings and done a thousand things, I've never done before.

I realize that I am a fusion of all of my life experiences.  And when I pay attention, I, too, AM a survivor!!!

"Dreamscape"

My Eyes popped open from last night's sleep.

I startled to the terminal vision of a Solitary yellow flower

Standing upright, in full bloom,

In the center of an empty can.

I, now, recall the sudden sound of a metallic clang--of this empty vessel.

My Awakening and singular thought was of my sister.

So long, it's been since we filled this empty vessel.

This can, sans water, speaks its symbology to me: 

Cylinder, can, vessel--a receptacle to be filled. 

An icon for Communication from the Past.

The 5th Chakra, the Throat Chakra is responsible 

For Communication, Self-expression and the ability to Speak your Personal Truth.

What has been left unsaid?

What needs to be said?

If Spoken Aloud, what will be Heard?

I allowed my eyes to close and held these thoughts in my Heart.

Will It be Said?

Water, one of the 4 Elements, indicating 

"Wisdom, Power, Grace, Music...Life, of Purification and Hope."

Certainly, I recognize the Wisdom of my Somnambulistic Capture.

The Deep leanings and urgings of my sleep rest within me.

A Flower and its sentiment of giving and receiving from another.

The symbolism of Reciprocity evokes the need for Exchange and Allowance.

Yellow, the color of the 3rd Chakra, the Solar Plexus is, "directly linked to your Sense of Self,

 Empowerment, Personal Power, Warrior Energy and the Power of Transformation."

And the metallic clang jarring my Silence to a State of Awakening--

Subito, immediately, I am filled with the Wisdom of this dream...

Will the Wisdom Empower and Speak My Truth?
